Derby Community Endowment – Investing in Derby’s FutureDERBY, CT – March 23, 2012. Representatives of the Derby Community Endowment and the Valley Community Foundation met today at the Foundation offices on Elizabeth Street in Derby, at 2pm, to sign the agreement that officially establishes the Endowment. This fund has been created by the citizens of Derby to benefit both the Derby schools and Derby beautification projects. An organizing committee of concerned citizens and city leaders has been meeting over the last few months to put together this agreement with the Valley Community Foundation. Each year a percentage of the fund will be allocated towards three purposes:
The fund’s kickoff event will take place from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, on May 12 at the Grassy Hill Lodge, 77 Sodom Lane, Derby. Tickets will be sold for $50 each, a raffle will be held with several prizes, and a commemorative book will be sold. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, and a retrospective of the “History of Giving” in Derby.
