Memorial Day Rememberance & Parade - 2003

Even the rain can't dampen the spirits!

A pouring rain couldn't dampen the spirit and patriotism so evident in Derby and Shelton on Memorial Day as the annual Memorial Day proceeded through the streets of both cities despite a constant downpour. Umbrellas were the gear of the day, but smiles were still on the faces of marchers and spectators as they commemorated the fallen heroes of American history. The parade was preceded on Sunday night by a moving ceremony at Shelton High School in memory of all those who have made the supreme sacrifice for our country. This year seemed especially poignant as the memory of the passing of so many members of the "Greatest Generation" who served in WWII merged with thoughts of those who recently lost their lives in Iraq.
