Texarkana, AR

Texarkana, Arkansas received its fountain in 1909 and it is believed that it was originally installed near the federal courthouse in the downtown area. As with many other communities the growth of automobile traffic made the need for the fountain negligible and the danger from increased traffic made it unsafe. For a time it was moved to a parking lot on State Line Avenue and West Seventh Street where it is still located in a small triangular park. It appears to be in good working order and is one of the fountains that gushes water from the top as well as from the lions head spigots.
