The Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race is the brainchild Glenn Gaetano, a former Derby High school football star, naval veteran and investigator with the US Department of Labor. Gaetano who now lives in Shelton returned to the Valley two years ago with a love for running and also for his community. Combining the two, he came up with the concept of the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race as a vehicle for supporting the Boys & Girls Club, showcasing the progress being made in redeveloping the downtown areas of Derby and Shelton and promoting the rich history of the area and the legacy of one its its most famous sons - Commodore Isaac Hull.

Glenn and a hard working supporting cast have been hard at work for months in an effort to not only make the inaugural race a success, but to establish it as a new community tradition for years to come and as a premiere race for runners.
