Derby Inauguration - 1998

The City of Derby inaugurated a new era of leadership on Monday, January 5, 1998 when New Mayor Marc Garofalo and the other officials elected on November 4, 1997 were sworn in and officially assumed their positions. The brief ceremony was held before a capacity crowd in the auditorium at Derby High School.

New Mayor Marc Garofalo was sworn into office by Congresswomen Barbara Kennelly and Rosa DeLauro while other members of the new administration were sworn in by Congressman James Maloney, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, State Senator Joseph Crisco and State Representative Vincent Tonucci. The colors were presented by members of the Derby Police and Fire Departments. Music was provided by Francessca Scarpa and two members of the Derby Grammar School band.
