Derby History Quiz

The Commodore Hull Theatre on Elizabeth Street brought back a lot of pleasant memories for a record breaking contingent of correct responders for this quiz. Many of those who responded not only named the theater, but also recounted the names of surrounding buildings as well. For some it was a reminder of the bargain Saturday matinees while many others remember hanging out in the adjoining "soda shop" as teenagers.

For those who examined the picture a little more closely, you will note that the theatre had a double bill playing at the time the picture was taken (probably 1958). "The Barbarian and the Geisha" starred John Wayne. "Harry Black and the Tiger" starred Stewart Granger and Barbara Rush.
