Barbara DeGennaro, Gary Parker & Maureen Duggan Regula

Mayor Marc Garofalo administrative team which took over the reins of city government on January 5, 1998 includes two new officials and the re-appointment of an existing official. Maureen Duggan Regula is the Corporation Counsel while Barbara DeGennaro is the first woman to be appointed Fire Commissioner. Gary Parker continues as Street Commissioner. All three are Derby residents with deep roots in the community.

Regula is a graduate of Derby High and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Johns Hopkins University before receiving her law degree from the Western New England School of Law. A former member of the Charter Revision Committee, she previously served as an assistant attorney general for the Superior Court for Juvenile Matters.

DeGennaro is also a Derby High graduate. She went on to major in political science at the University of Connecticut and earned her law degree from Western New England College School of Law. She practices law in Derby and also serves as coach of the pompom squad at Derby High School. In her role as fire commissioner, she will be responsible for supervising the department, purchasing new equipment and drawing up department budgets. Derby has an all-volunteer fire department.

Parker has served as the Street Commissioner under the previous administrations of  Alan Schlesinger and Gino DiMauro.
