Derby/Shelton High School Football - 99 or 100 years?
Will the 2010 game be the 100th anniversary game or just the 99th?
There seems to be some doubt because of one particular contest. For a full
listing of all the games,
click here. It's a game that took place in 1904 that is causing the
confusion. You can read the full account of the game from the Evening
Sentinel here. The question is - was it
Derby High School that was beaten by a score of 11-5? The story calls the
team the "Derby Juniors" and notes that they also included three freshmen -
all three were freshmen at Yale University including the quarterback of the
Derby team! So the question for his poll is - Should the 1904 game between
Shelton High School and the "Derby Juniors" be counted as one of the games
between the two high schools. If so, then the 2010 game in Shelton will be
the 100th in the series.
Should the 2010 Derby/Shelton High School football game be considered the

The Recreation Commission has reported back to the Board of Aldermen on potential locations for a new skate park, and they listed the following three sites for consideration: - Former Oponiak Property in East Derby now owned by the city
- Parking lot between the Uluski Field and the high school on Nutmeg Avenue
- Vacant property on Caroline Street purchased from Webster Bank
