Police Department Posts Safety Notes for Runners

Sergeant Donald J. Margiano of the Derby Police Department has posted the following guidelines for the safety of runners participating in the annual Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race:

Be aware that you are running on public streets , and that the polcie may not be able to stop all vehicles from entering the road race route.

  1. Runners to stay in the right lane
  2. Be aware of motor vehicles entering the race course. (e.g. private driveways and small business areas)
  3. Emergency vehicles may enter the course. You should be able tomaintain your pace, just stay to the far right of the right lane as you go. We will do our best to avoid having emergency vehicles on the race course.
