All Class Reunion Set for Labor day Weekend
Pictures from 2009 All Class Reunion The Derby Cultural Commission announces the 11th Annual Derby High School All-Class Reunion will take place Saturday September 4th, 2010 (Labor Day Weekend) with a suggested time of 7pm. The time is suggested because it is hoped classmates will meet earlier to maybe have dinner downtown. This year it had been suggested to condense the meeting place venues. Classes from the 70’s decade and earlier will meet at the Derby Elks Lodge (203-735-1142) and the 80’s decade and later will meet at Archie Moores (203-732-3255). Both venues are located on Elizabeth Street. Keeping in mind the original intent of the reunion was to help generate business downtown and to help the graduating classes who don’t have a reunion committee to be part of a “get together”. The additional thought was that everyone would/could move around from business to business (all of them, not just the meeting places). Since its’ inception much has changed but the concept is catching on that many more realize it is happening on Labor Day Saturday. The first event was held as part of Derby Day in June, and trhe second one was held in conjunction with a fall Derby High School football game. Starting in 2002, the event was moved to Labor day weekend, and that has become its regular date ever since. For those on Facebook, a classmate has set up a page called Derby CT High School All Class Reunion Weekend. Photos from all the previous All-Class Reunions can be found by clicking here. Originally started by the Derby Cultural Commission, this event appears to have taken off on its own and the Commission just helps with a yearly reminder. There is no cover charge at each venue. Menus and entertainment vary at each venue.
