A New Name for a New Bridge

Brian Dennehy Bridge

Derby's new bridge across the canal adjacent to Roosevelt Drive has a new name thanks to the Board of Aldermen. At the first meeting of the new Board following their inauguration, the Board voted unanimously to name the short bridge the "Brian Dennehy Bridge" after Tony Award winning actor Brian Dennehy who was raised in Derby. Dennehy got his start in show business by performing "Be a Good Scout" in the 1948 version of the annual Gang Show produced by the Troop 3 Scouts.
