Derby Native Pens Book on Fort Lauderdale

Derby native, “Trapper” Dan Santoro, first visited Fort Lauderdale Beach for Spring Break ’79 and returned the following 2 years as well. He permanently moved to “Fort Liquordale” in 1986 and quickly immersed himself in the wild nightclub scene there, working and making friends with other like-minded locals who survived the previous Spring Breaks, while he soaked up the sun and learned the history of the world-famous beach (aka "The Strip").

After the death of the Godfather of Spring Break “Crazy Gregg” Newell, Santoro was challenged by his beach friends to write the ultimate history of one of America’s hottest destinations over the latter half of the 20th century. Now, in "Where the Boys (and Girls) Were!" you will uncover the true fun & sun history of Fort Lauderdale Beach as it has never been assembled before, with historical facts and stories from the earliest settlers in the town through all the beer-fueled/Wet T-shirt craziness of the '60s, '70s and '80s and right into today’s evolving skyline. Surf’s up!
