Hull Thanksgiving 5k Road Race Shirt accepted by USS Constitution Museum
SHELTON -- Organizers of the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving 5k Road Race had a pleasant surprise recently. Race Director and retired Naval Commander Glenn Gaetano received notification that last year's shirt to commemorate the race has been accepted by the USS Constitution Museum in Boston.
According to a letter received from Kate Lennon Walker, Librarian and Collections Manager for the Museum , it stated the Curatorial Committee was happy to receive the T-Shirt from the 2002 running of the Commodore Hull 5K Road Race.
The shirt was designed by Backlit Sun owner Allan Esposito a 1977 graduate of Derby High School and a 1979 graduate of the Butera School of Art in Boston. The shirt will be a part of the collection of contemporary souvenirs at the Museum.
Last year's shirt sponsor, Greco & Haines of Derby is once again on board and has commissioned the production of 500 shirts. Race organizers, knowing there are many in the region that are avid runners hope to pass last year's turnout of 310 so they can fill those 500 shirts. The race starts at 8 am Thanksgiving morning at the Shelton Riverwalk and crosses into Derby up Elizabeth Street to the Derby Public Library and returns.
