The Commodore Hull 5K Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race Committee is
happy to announce that Sandie Aurilio of Derby has been made the
Chief Administrative Officer for the race. Sandie, a native of
Bridgeport and Trumbull High graduate, is responsible for pre-and
race day registration and packet pick-up with a staff of 10.
Race Director Glenn Gaetano noted that Sandie, the assistant to
the President at Fermont in Bridgeport, " is a real professional who
has brought together a spirited crew, people like Janet Brolet and
Mary Adzima, who are the face of the race and project a friendly and
positive attitude to everyone. We started the race 4 years ago and
it has been a joy to have someone like Sandie as a key member."
Sandie has been a Derby resident for seven years and active as a
volunteer with Griffin Hospital, Spooner House and Sterling
Opera. Her son, Dr. Tony Aurilio, daughter-in-law Jo Ellyn and
three grandchildren Anthony, Olivia,and Michael live in Clarence, NY.
A second son Bob passed away 4 years ago. Gaetano said that Sandie's
efforts have contributed to the committee's success in staging a
community event that has raised about $16,000 for the Boys and Girls Club
in three years while bringing together the cities of Shelton and
Derby to celebrate an important part of their mutual heritage.
