Wilson Named Assistant Race Director

Tom Wilson, a Shelton native, has been made the Assistant Race Director of the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race. Race Director Glenn Gaetano was happy to make the announcement recently and noted that “Tom not only has a great racing background, from the New York City Marathon to the Vermont City marathon, but understands the many nuts and bolts that are part of a top-notch event.” In addition, Tom is well known in the business community as his family has owned The Wilson Insurance Agency for the past 50 years in Huntington Center. "Tom is a tremendous asset to our race and community with a wonderful sense of humor, which is always needed in his other roles as race starter and Master of Ceremonies," stated Gaetano.

Wilson said “I am proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of committee members who are dedicated to creating a dynamic community event lead by Glenn Gaetano. We are focused on creating an event which can be enjoyed by all members of the community whether they run the race or volunteer in the background to make it the success it has become in its four years.”

Tom and his wife Laura live in Shelton with their 3 children, Sean, Jeffrey and Colleen. The 5K race will take place Thanksgiving morning starting in Shelton and crossing into Derby and returns. The race has raised over $16,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, and last year’s race attracted 480 runners.
