The Derby Honor Roll on the Derby Green

The Derby Green has always been a focus of civic pride and patriotism and that was no different when this picture was taken. The Derby Honor Role was a fixture on the west side of the Derby Green fronting on Elizabeth Street. The wooden structure had a glass front and inside was a display of the names of all of Derby's finest who served in the armed forces during WWII..

If you look very carefully at the glass, you will see the reflection of the Second Congregational Church which is directly across the street. Our thanks to Rosalie Cota for providing the picture and to her lovely mother Jennie Scarpa Mastrogiovanni who posed for this picture taken around 1950.

Correct answers were received from: Tony DeFeo, Ann Searles, Jim & Linda Mascolo, Brian McMahon, Frank Lazowski, Marsha Pettingill, Mayor Marc Garofalo, MarkAnthony Izzo, C. F.
