On
Saturday June 20th, Downtown Derby will be transformed into a Festive
Wonderland. Voted as "One of The Ten
Best Things to Do In Connecticut" by
several national publications for the 2nd year in a row! We are proud
of what we accomplished in the past couple of years. "We just don't
invite everyone in the phone book and set them up in the street, We
invite artists and crafters from all over the East Coast from
Maine all the way down to
Florida to join us" says Derby Day
Chairman, Rich DiCarlo.
"Derby Day is something to experience. We've added the "Housie Duck
Race" which will take off at 3:00 on the Derby/Shelton Bridge. Duck
Tickets will be on sale throughout the day. You can win up to 50 great
prizes!
If you
are feeling hungry you can enter (or watch) the "Frankie Footer Hot Dog
Eating Contest" set to go off at 1pm. Register early, Space is
limited.(there is a $15 entry fee which includes: All the hot dogs you
can eat and an official t-shirt) Ther are gift certificates for the
winners and a Trophy and bragging rights for the champ!)
There
is also Connies' "Pain and Pleasure Wing Eating Contest" That goes off
at 2:00.
Miss New England, Tiffany Ferraiuolo will be on hand to meet and greet
folks and to M.C some of our many events.
We have
great entertainment throughout the day at the gazebo. Its Free! The
lineup includes North by NorthEast at
10am, A special Appearance by the CT Hurricanes marching band, Last Fair
Deal at 12 noon, followed by the Sentinels at 3pm.
We have
magicians , Funny Clowns and a vast array of characters roaming around
the venue. We have Kid's Games and Prizes,crafts and activities in the
Kid's Zone, Pony Rides and The Dunk Tank
Is Back!, Ride the Roaming RailRoad and experience one of the World's
Oldest Carousel Organs Playing throughout the day. Miss
New England will be with us throughout
the day!

"We
have just about anything you can want or need: From Trinkets and a vast
array of jewelry, Hand crafted items such as quilts, handbags and
clothing and goods for your home, Home made fudge, honey, jams, candles,
Artwork, Toys...the list goes on...
We also tapped Derby's vast culinary Institutions for a wide selection
of Great Food at affordable prices! We have everything from Hot dogs,
Burgers to Homemade Porketta!

to Ryan Field to watch the Ct Hurricanes compete against other bands in
The Battle of the Bands"! That event begins at 6pm.
