Dear Derby Citizens and Business Owners,

Another busy and productive week has gone by.  I tackled everything from office phone and computer problems to a surprise visit from the Grinch, thanks to the City of Derby Cultural Commission.  Word is he was also sneaking around Bradley and Irving schools!

I have definitely been feeling the holiday spirit this week.  I attended the Holiday Luncheon at the Derby Senior Center.  The luncheon was a wonderful success thanks to senior center staff, volunteers, and Derby Middle School’s Student Council and Human Relations Club, who served lunch, sang holiday songs, and passed out handmade cards to the senior center members.  I was also given the opportunity to attend Derby Police Department’s Holiday Breakfast.   A group of adorable reindeer from Derby Day Care Center stopped by City Hall, as well, passing out candy canes.

Despite all the holiday fun, my staff and I got a lot accomplished.  Notably, I met with Kathy Williams from Derby Public Library to discuss our current library programs and facilities.  Kathy and I also explored some ideas to enhance our services.

Likewise, I am excited to share that we are making serious headway with the implementation of an official City of Derby website.  I had the opportunity to meet with another vendor this week.  My goal is to adopt a system that will serve the needs of our community while greatly improving the efficiency of our city business.

It was truly an exciting week!

On behalf of the City of Derby and myself, I would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday.  Please remember to celebrate responsibly.

Sincerely,

Anita Dugatto

Mayor, City of Derby
