Olde Birmingham Business Association members made a day of working on their spot!

The Derby Board of Aldermen instituted a successful a City-wide "Adopt-a-Spot" program in 2007, and it didn't take long for individuals and groups to get involved. If you think you would be interested in joining the program, simply click on the application forms above and download the printable forms.

The Adopt a Spot program to date has attracted 11 volunteers who signed up to maintain various 'spots' around the City. This is a very successful start to a program less than 6 months old. There are still several spots remaining if anyone is interested in becoming involved to help the appearance of their community. Some of these spots include, but are not limited to, the planting bed at the corner of Cedric Ave and RT 34, the planting island at the corner of Sunset Ave and Hillcrest, the planting bed on RT 34 West holding the Welcome to Derby sign, or the area around the waterfall in Witek Park (involves some brush cutting and removal). If you are interested in adopting any of these spots, or have an idea for another, please contact Aldermanic President, Ken Hughes, at imow@snet.net or contact City Hall at 736-1450.
