Race Director Tom Wilson
Most of our runners are most
familiar with Race Director Tom Wilson wearing his race hat and holding the
megaphone at the starting and finishing line for the Commodore Hull
Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race. However, Tom is just as successful in his
business life as he is in his volunteer job as Race Director. So successful
in fact, that his colleagues in the
Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut (IIAC) just selected him as
the Chairman of the organization for a one year term that commenced on
September 1.
Tom was elected to this
position at the 112th IIAC Annual Meeting held on June 3, 2010 at
the Saybrook Point Inn, Old Saybrook, CT. The Independent Insurance Agents
of Connecticut is a trade association which has been located in Connecticut
and has represented Independent Agents for 112 years. IIAC currently
represents more than 400 member agencies and their associates as well as
their 3500-plus
employees.
He is Vice President of
The
Wilson Agency, Inc. in Shelton, CT. He resides in Shelton with his wife
Laura and three children Sean, Jeffrey, and Colleen. He was acknowledged
for his commitment to the Independent Agency System, professional standards,
and community involvement. Among many charitable activities he is currently
the Race Director for The Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K which has
raised over $70,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck
Valley. Tom has been a member of the race committee since its inception and
is one of the founders of the race.
Congratulations to Tom and
continued success in business - and with the race!
