Lisa Stockbridge welcomes customers to Stockbridge's Gourmet Cheesecakes

This "Slice of Life" story might better be called the "Cake of Life" because we've found Connecticut's best cheesecake - and it's right here in Derby! Tucked away in the marina at 412 Roosevelt Drive on the banks of the Housatonic River, Stockbridge's Gourmet Cheesecakes may be rather unassuming on the outside and even on the inside. However when a slice of one of their exceptional cheesecakes happens to make it to your plate it will be anything but unassuming! In fact, you'll probably agree that it will be the best cheesecake that you have ever tasted and Connecticut Magazine would be the first to agree having named Stockbridge's cheesecakes the best in Connecticut every year since 2003.

Stockbridge's is a family business celebrating its sixth anniversary on Good Friday. Chef Brian Stockbridge and his wife Lisa opened the business six years ago when they found that equipment from a previous business was available and so was the location. They were looking to start their own business and jumped right in with Brian providing the "secret recipes" while Lisa provided the day to day staffing for the shop. Their small shop attracted a steady flow of local clients as word of mouth advertising grew from a whisper to a roar when Connecticut Magazine took a Derby secret state wide by naming the tasty treats produced here the best in the entire state. And they weren't alone in recognizing the culinary delights as Connecticut Bride and Modern Bride also saw fit to sing the praises of Stockbridge cheesecakes with special awards.

The shop offers a wide variety of cheesecakes to please any palette. Just a few on the menu are New York, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Ganche, Amaretto, Key Lime, Hazel Nut and the ever popular White Chocolate Raspberry. But that's only a small sample of the offerings that you can find by stopping by. They also supply their cakes to several area restaurants and they can also be found at supermarkets in the area.

And if you thought that all they did was cheesecakes, then you are in for a real surprise when you check their offerings to find a wide variety of scones and cookies as well!
