Squantuck Cemetery

On your right as you head towards the Stevenson Dam is Squantuck Cemetery, one of Seymour's oldest burial grounds. This cemetery, enclosed by a white picket fence, rests on a small knoll of land that once overlooked the Housatonic River.

For many years, this was an abandoned burial ground and a number of the stones have disappeared. However, written records show that many of the residents in this early settled area of Seymour, rest here - Revolution War soldiers, farmers, entire families and even babies. Names such as Mansfield, Tomlinson and Holbrook are an ever present reminder of those who helped shape the town and the sacrifices they made.
