Dr. Michael Parlato - Dr. Michael Parlato (1885–1980) was a Derby, Connecticut physician and civic leader, noted as the first Derby High School graduate of Italian parentage (1904) and the first Italian-American Yale Medical School graduate (1908). He opened a Derby practice in 1910, served as a surgeon at Griffin Hospital, and later built a private hospital on Elizabeth Street.

George C. Allis - George Cornelius Allis was a Derby businessman who, with a small loan, opened a Birmingham Borough news and general store on Main Street and later operated from 165 Main Street. His shop sold jewelry, watches, optical goods, books, and stationery and featured an early circulating library that grew to nearly 5,000 volumes. He also ran a steamship ticket and draft agency; the store closed around 1924, and Allis died in 1927.

Giovanni Lombardi - The Lombardi Motor Car Company was a notable Derby, Connecticut auto sales and service business founded by Italian immigrant John (Giovanni) Lombardi, Sr., who arrived in the U.S. in 1884 and began the enterprise in 1896 on Elizabeth Street as a sporting goods and bicycle shop. After relocating to Minerva Street in 1902, Lombardi became an early automotive innovator, building an automobile in 1898 and patenting a transmission, and the company later distributed Nash and Lafayette cars, International trucks, and Rickenbacker Motor Cars.
