Lowe's Holds Grand Opening

Mayor Staffieri is using more than scissors for Lowe's Grant Opening

Lowes has formally opened its new Derby store on New Haven Avenue just a little more than a year after holding the formal groundbreaking. Store Manager Gary Campbell invited Mayor Anthony Staffieri to handle the duties in a uniquely "Lowe's" Way. Instead of the traditional ribbon cutting, Mayor Staffieri officially opened the store by using one of Lowe's power saws to cut through a wooden saw replica to mark the Grand Opening of the store which opened unofficially on December 26.

In addition to his brief remarks, Campbell also presented a $1,000 check to Rich DiCarlo and the Valley Arts Council that will be used to help support their new programs being planned for their new headquarters in the former Spooner House homeless shelter on Caroline Street.

We want to welcome Lowe's as the newest member of the Derby business community and wish them well.
