Cold, rainy, windy weather didn't put a damper in John Critelli's
running as he topped a record field of 477 runners to win the Fifth
Annual Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race in a time of 16
minutes and 12 seconds which was 19 seconds better than second place
finisher Bart Wasiolek. It marked the second straight year that Critelli
has won the race.
The Women's Division came down to a near photo finish as Kelly Bergeron
squeezed by two-time defending champion Robyn Hudak by tenths of a
second in a sprint to the finish line.
A Close Finish in the Women's Division

The Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day Road Race was
started in 2002 as a community effort to honor one of the
great naval heroes in United States history and to celebrate
the two neighboring cities that he called home - Derby
and Shelton, Connecticut. More than a road race, it has
become a Thanksgiving tradition that joins the downtowns
of two great cities undergoing a renaissance along the banks
of the Housatonic River.
The race has benefited the
Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. Over
$30,000 was raised in the first past 5 years. |
