Paugassett's Donate Firemen's Trophy

Tom Hope wins the inaugural Firemen's Trophy
Derby's
Paugassett Hook & Ladder Co. 4 has been working with the Shelton Fire
Department for years to drape the huge American flag from their ladder
trucks in the middle of the Derby/Shelton Bridge portion of the race
course, but this year they decided to present a new race award. They
will be presenting a trophy to the fastest fireman participating in the
race. This year's winner is Tom Hope who is a member of Shelton's
Huntington Company #3. Tom finished fifth overall with an impressive
time of 17:23.

The Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race is noted for the
exceptional runners "goodie" bag, and that tradition continues again
this year. In addition to the heavy weight lime green cotton t-shirt
from Greco & Haines, runners will also receive a water bottle courtesy
of Greco & Haines or Sikorsky Financial Credit Union. Unilever has
contributed soap, deodorant and q-tips and Tetley Tea has once again
contributed tea samples. Sports Center of Connecticut has also once
again contributed gift passes to their fantastic facility in Shelton.
Shelton is the home of Wiffle Ball and the younger runners will find a
ball in their bags. There are a variety of other discount coupons, pens
and other items to be found in the bags. To ensure that you get your
t-shirt and bag, you must be among the first 400 to register.
