Plans for the 2013 Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race were officially announced on Friday, April 19 aboard Commodore Isaac Hull's ship - the USS Constitution at the Boston Naval Yard. Race committee members (L-R above) Markanthony Izzo, Glenn Gaettano, Tom Wilson and Jack Walsh met with the 72nd commanding officer of the ship, Matthew J. Bonner at the morning crew meeting and shared memorabilia and history of the crew while making the announcement that the race will be held for the 12th year on Thanksgiving morning (November 28, 2013).

The trip proceeded in spite of the extraordinary events that unfolded throughout the Boston area during the day. Commander Bonner and the crew experienced a very difficult week as did everyone in Boston, but the meeting and visit brought some normalcy to the day, and as one crew member remarked to committee member Glenn Gaetano, "We have to carry-on, Sir".

The committee spent time with the crew as you can see from the video below and pictures found here. They also enjoyed a very special tour of the ship which Isaac Hull commanded so ably during the War of 1812. Committee members too special notice of the patches worn by crew members proclaiming "Old Ironsides" as undefeated marking it's perfect battle record.

The Committee also announced the Greco & Haines is once again on board as the major sponsor for the race. You can read more about what makes this so special here. In addition, the Committee also announced that will be back as the official timer for the race and that the field is being expanded to 750 runners.
